Nuala Murphy, President/Founder & Regional Leader

Nuala Murphy is a tech entrepreneur and previous CEO of Moment Health - a technology company focused on female mental and emotional well-being. 


The founder of the Lean In Belfast and Ireland networks she is characterised by energy, drive and commitment to  helping women achieve their ambitions as part of the global Lean In movement.

Gayle Alexander, Interim Co-Chair, Webmistress & Communications

Gayle is a Video Virtual Assistant and founder of AVA, Alexander Virtual Assistance, offering Video Social and Digital Media marketing services to SMEs, entrepreneurs and individuals.

She is also GIS/GPS qualified with over 15 years of experience in the Public and Private sectors, and has career pivoted into marketing with a geographic flavour.


After volunteering in 2017 with PlotBox and Lean In gaining valuable experience, studying with Squared Online, HubSpot, Future Learn and Udemy in Digital Marketing and Social Media, Gayle has now launched AVA as it's chief VA and has undertaken research and marketing activities with several new NI start up companies.

Gayle continues on with Lean In in the capacity of webmistress and Panel member responsible for marketing and communications and the same time as growing her new business part time in 2018 AVA Alexander Virtual Assistance.


She relishes new experiences, opportunities for continued learning, traveling, sewing, glass-work and meeting new people, in both work and personal settings.  Gayle hopes to encourage, inspire and enable others achieve their goals, with her new Lean In work, story and journey.





Lorraine Nelson, Interim Co-Chair

Lorraine is a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and is a Fellow of the
Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA). She has also
completed her Advanced Diploma in International Tax. She has
considerable experience in providing UK tax services for global groups and
liaising with decisions makers based in the UK, Republic of Ireland,
mainland Europe and the US.

Since the Brexit referendum, Lorraine is ideally placed to provide a unique
insight from an Irish and UK perspective and has been actively involved
with the firms Brexit Committee that provides robust Brexit planning advice
to clients.

Lorraine regularly presents on topical tax issues to both professional bodies
and local Chambers of Commerce. Most recently, she has appeared on
numerous television programmes to discuss the implications of Brexit to
businesses. She regularly provides articles to the local media and has
authored numerous pieces for leading tax publications.

Lorraine has been a membership leader for over the past 18 months and has now taken on the roles as an interim Co-Chair and will hep shape Lean In Belfast for 2020.


Sinead Sharkey Steenson, Director of Programming

Sinéad Sharkey-Steenson is the founder and Managing Director of Generation Women; an organisation focused on developing female talent to get to the top of organisations. With close to 20 years’ experience in leadership development and coaching

Sinéad left a successful corporate career in global organisations where her passion was transforming culture.  Since launching Generation Women she has worked with over 3,000 women to support them to achieve their career ambitions and to build more diverse and inclusive workplaces.  She thrives on seeing women build confidence and succeed.  Recently, Sinéad has also co-founded Career Reboot with Lisa Strutt; a business designed to support people who have taken a career break back into the workplace.


She holds a BA Hons Psychology, MSc Computing and Information Systems, MSc Human Resource Management, is an NLP Master Practitioner and an ICF Accredited Coach. Sinéad is a globally in demand motivational speaker, trainer, and facilitator.
